As a highly controversial group of internet hacker vigilantes, Anonymous has become quite a formidable group that definitely strikes fear into the hearts and lives of unsuspecting internet giants and political groups whom Anonymous thinks have overexercised their power.

Most recently, a group claiming to be 'Anonymous' figured out a way to obtain 55,000 Twitter account passwords and has posted the information on Pastebin. Although this is a huge breach in Twitter security and privacy, the private login information was reported to be mostly from duplicate and suspended accounts. In my opinion, this less than impressive attack seems more like a copycat hacker crime compared to the highly calculated hacks Anonymous is generally known for.

The New York Times reported that in an email, Carolyn Penner, a spokeswoman for Twitter said,

We are currently looking into the situation. In the meantime, we have pushed out password resets to accounts that may have been affected. For those who are concerned that their account may have been compromised, we suggest resetting your passwords and more in our Help Center.”

For anyone who was affected by the breach in security, you can click here to quickly change your password and login information if your account has been compromised.
