Lately it seems that the military has become highly interested in small robotic technology. For example, in the recent article found on Socialeaf, “Hydrogen Powered Robot Jellyfish: Amazingly Life-like!,” states that the military began to fund the development of robot jellyfish to be used for special underwater missions that may be very risky to humans. Similarly, the Sand Flea, which was created by Boston Dynamics, can access unusual remote locations with minimal limitation.

It is uncertain if the Sand Flea can float or swim on water, but it is very much capable of performing acrobatic feats on land.

The Sand Flea specs are as follows... It can jump about 20 feet in the air from a stand-still and while in mid-air, the Sand Flea remains level using a stabilization system to keep it's orientation. This stability allows for greater control of landings and improves video orientation in flight.
