Link Referral - I can't stress enough the importance of joining Link Referral, not only will you have the chance to submit your site to their directory, you can review other sites within the directory to raise your rank. You can do site reviews and great sites to your favorites list. Also, you get to interact with all the webmastes who run the sites via instant messaging or email. The whole concept behind link referral is to ensure people who join are actively rating and viewing participating sites. This means that traffic is automatically generated based on your rank withing Link Referral. Just review other sites to rank high. Great concept and it works.
Google - This particular directory is the single most important directory to submit your site to.
Yahoo - This great directory and search engine, had been lagging behind Google for quite some time, but they are now gaining on them. Yahoo has become very user friendly and is highly engaging. I like their news info too.
Ask - Here's an old favorite. This reminds me I need to submit my own site to their directory. With a high page rank. It's very important to submit your site to this search engine.
Bing - This is Microsoft's search engine web directory, It's a great alternative to Google and I highly recommend you to submit your website to their directory. 1.
SEOMOZ – This website is very expensive, but it ranks very high in both Google page rank and Alexa.
Yellowpages - Yes the infamous Yellow pages ranks super high with Google. Submitting your website there is a must do.
The White Pages - Again, I highly recommend submitting your site to these business directories. You will generate plenty more traffic than if you didn't.
DMOZ Here's one of the most trusted website directories. It may take a couple of weeks to be approved, but the benefit to being listed is invaluable. Word to the wise, when you visit the site, simply follow the links to the category your site fits best. Once you find your website niche, you will then see a link that will allow you to submit your site. In other words, you won't see the link on the home page, you have to find it on the page that fit's your websites category best.
JustDial - This one may be worth checking out, but I had a bit of trouble trying to submit socialeaf. So try it out and see if it's worth it. The page rank is decent but it has been falling, so use your own intelligent discression.
